All county land records, plats now available online

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, OCTOBER 30, 2018:

NEW BRAUNFELS  — A pair of initiatives in the Comal County Clerk’s Office have led to the online availability of hundreds of thousands of land records for public viewing.

First, all official public records (OPR) dating to the establishment of Comal County in 1846 are now available for preview and potential purchase at comal.landrecordsonline.com. The records comprise deeds and deeds of trust, liens and lien releases, affidavits, water rights, easements, and assumed names.

The entirety of each document is available to preview for free, while downloading an official copy will cost $1 per page.

“After a long process that began last year, we’re excited to finally offer this service to the public,” said County Clerk’s Office Manager Kat Brown-Moore. “These are the public’s records, and we want to make sure residents can access their records as conveniently as possible.”

To that end, the County Clerk’s Office and the county’s GIS mapping team have also made available all of the county’s 5,000-plus subdivision platting records, allowing the public to view and download unofficial copies for free.

The plats are searchable by subdivision, address, street, intersection or property ID number, or by exploring the county map at www.cceo.org/plats.

“I’m not aware of any other county in Texas that provides this level of access to our platting records,” Brown-Moore said. “Anyone wanting an official certified copy will need to come into our office. This service should be a big help for engineers, surveyors, realtors and anyone else simply needing to review lot and subdivision information.”
