Bracken Named Best In State
Bracken Christian School in Bulverde wins best in state Class 1A private school in Texas for the 2017-2018 school year. On June 6th, Bracken Christian School was awarded The Henderson Championship Cup for their cumulative score in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) competitions. This award includes points earned in art, academics, vocal and instrumental music, and various sports competitions from district through state level.
This may be the Bracken Christian School Warrior’s first Henderson Cup, but it was won with a clear 10 point margin over the second best school, Granbury North Central Texas. Bracken Christian School accumulated 63 points overall. Girls Cross Country and Track & Field teams made a huge impact in the score with their State Championship wins. Six-man Football and Volleyball also contributed with their battle through their seasons to state runner-up. These were not the only state-level accomplishments by the Warriors, Boys Cross Country and Track & Field finished third in the state in their seasons. Additional points were earned by the Girls Basketball with their season finish as Area Champions, and Girls Tennis team with their District Championship win. Although individual state wins are not counted towards the Henderson Cup award, Bracken Christian School is proud to have had a third-place winner at the State Golf Tournament.
Warriors didn’t stop with just athletic point contributions to the overall Henderson Cup score. The Bracken Christian Bailadoras dance team continues to make a statement with their back-to-back second place finish at the state competition in their second year as a competition team adding fine arts points to the overall score. As in athletics, individual points are not part of the Henderson Cup tally, but Bracken Christian School vocalists and artists brought home several State medals for their efforts in Fine Arts.
"I am so proud to be part of a school that has a competitive spirit in all things, athletics, academics and fine arts", says new superintendent Doyle Banks, "Bracken Christian School strives for excellence in all of our students."
