Firefighter/Paramedic Legacy Continues to Give to Others

Firefighter/Paramedic Legacy Continues to Give to Others

Jennifer Achay Awarded Scholarship

Spring Branch, TX, December 21, 2018 — The Brennan L. Livaudais Memorial Scholarship Committee selected Jennifer Achay as their 2018 award recipient. The Livaudais Scholarship was purposefully designed to assist those working toward a career in firefighting and paramedicine.

Mr. Steve Stevenson, Chairman of the Board, said, “Jennifer is precisely the type of hard working, selfless individual we need in this country.” Mrs. Achay is simultaneously pursuing her paramedic education while working at the Centre for Emergency Health Sciences as the Laboratory Coordinator. Scotty Bolleter, the Centre Chair stated, “Her efforts in the laboratory have directly saved lives and greatly assisted in the evolution of modern emergency medicine.” In addition to her lab responsibilities, Jennifer, a new mom, is attending classes to complete her undergraduate degree and is in the process of finishing her Paramedic program. She is currently a Nationally Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, as well as being certified by the Texas Commission of Fire Protection as a Firefighter.

Like Brennan, Jennifer is passionate about helping others and considers herself Brennan’s  "sister in service.” She adds, “There is not a better way to do that, except to be there when others need you most.”

Brennan’s dream was to become a paramedic/firefighter so that he could save lives and help others in his community. He fulfilled that dream, graduating from the Fire Academy, and becoming a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician. Tragically, Brennan passed eight years ago in August 2010 as a result of an anaphylactic reaction.

The spirit of Brennan lives through his father's vision of creating a fund to help other’s complete their training with financial assistance.  With Ken’s vision, the Livaudais family set out, via this scholarship program, to help as many service minded people as possible reach their goal of a career in emergency services.

If you would like to assist the Livaudais family in their effort to help other young firefighters/paramedics and honor Brennan’s life, please consider a donation to continue this legacy of life changing service. Visit http://www.hiscentre.com/livaudais or to apply for a scholarship.
