Hope Center Update

It's time to celebrate!
Join us this Sunday, June 5th at 12:45 for the "ground breaking" picture on site at The Hope Center. We are beginning construction on the new Hope Center Food Pantry and classroom space! Thanks to all of you, we are looking ahead to serve the community with a new 2400 square foot space! It will include our new pantry, a large open classroom, a handicap shower/bathroom to be used by those who don't have water at home, and we will have another office for financial assistance appointments.

We have great news!

$35,000 Financial Challenge Grant testimony

In December, I had sent an email out sharing with you about a "grant challenge". We had submitted to a grant through the Mabee Foundation last year.  They honored it and said that if we raised $104,000.00 that they would grant us $35,000 towards our building. What an amazing offer!! We had JUST finished having our gala in September and we had raised $75,000! That was a record for us but we weren't allowed to use those funds, as they weren't included in the challenge, which started in October.

I knew that if we could do this right after the gala, it would feel like a miracle! It was a great opportunity, but when you have a heart for ministry, you really don't want to spend your efforts on raising money - you actually want to spend time with the people that you are helping. So honestly, I sat on the opportunity for awhile but I knew that we also needed this for the building project to be debt free.

I woke up one morning in December with this sense "it's time to send the email out". So I got up and shared with you about the challenge grant. Some "friends of the ministry" saw the email and had been sitting at their kitchen table praying about giving away a certain amount of money to further God's kingdom purposes. The amount that they wanted to give was $100k! When they saw the email, they knew immediately that they wanted to give that money to support The Hope Center's mission! How incredible is that??

We thank God for all of you that believe in our work!! We also want to thank individuals that have "foundations" in place to strengthen ministries like ours. What an incredible gift you are! We would list you by name, but we aren't sure who all wants to remain anonymous, so thank you!

What's on the horizon?

Save the date for Sunday night, Sept. 25th at 5 pm for our annual fundraising gala at Park 31 Events Venue! More details coming out soon.

We will be able to accept gently used items once our new thrift store is on site. Right now we are out of storage space. The store is coming in the next quarter of 2022! We will keep you posted through social media and these emails when we have room for clothing and household donations again. This is a huge blessing of provision for many of our families.

Come join us - We consistently gather on the 4th Wednesday of each month at The Loft Coffee House for our Night of Hope at 6:30pm! We enjoy a great meal with all who attend and it's a fun time to come meet some of our families.

IF you want to help stock the pantry or help purchase HEB fuel cards to help bring relief to families, this is a great time to be "in the know". We have a text system in place if you want to hear our food needs. We rotate the texts so that you are notified 2/month and it allows you to help when you can. Please feel NO pressure, EVER! Text 210-972-7022 and enter the word "shop", if you want on the list.

Enjoy your summer - we will be in touch!
