During the month of November, third grade students at Timberwood Park Elementary held their annual food drive to benefit Provisions, a Bulverde based food pantry. Led by third grade teacher, Mrs. Julie Bice, the third grade students worked hard to collect non perishables to help stock the shelves at the pantry. Bice stated “Our 3rd grade food drive was a huge success! It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that the TPES community can help others in need!” In all, a very generous 629 pounds of food was collected from the students and families of Timberwood Park Elementary.

On December 8th, eight of the third grade students hand delivered the food to Provisions. Items were sorted and stocked on the shelves by the students. Timberwood Park Elementary, a Leader in Me school, actively supports its’ students in their leadership efforts. Among the students who delivered food to the pantry was Audrey Gonzales who penned and illustrated this year’s donation flyer. Gonzales remarked “I learned a lot about helping people in need. Sometimes people, maybe even your own classmates, are afraid to ask for help with food. By donating food and a little of your time, you are helping families and neighbors. That’s what being a good leader is all about.”
