Timberwood Park Elementary Makes Paws-itively Awesome Donation to Benefit Local Humane Society

Second grade students fill two large vehicles with items to benefit local canine friends.
San Antonio, TX - February 14, 2019

During the month of January, the students and staff Timberwood Park Elementary lined the halls with items collected for the benefit of the Bulverde Area Humane Society. Items included dog and cat food, cleaning supplies, and animal treats.

Included with the donations was a large bag of dog food from a TPES family who themselves had adopted their family pet from the Bulverde Area Humane Society. On the bag was a note written, ”For my friends at B.A.H.S. From Pebbles. I’m more than a year old now, 25 pounds and loving my forever home.”

Leading the second grade service project was teacher, Sharon Walters. Walters stated, “My daughter and I have been volunteering at BAHS for 7 years. On our first visit we fell in love with all the animals and the volunteers that work there. Everyone at BAHS is so loving and caring. The animals are all well taken care of, and seem very happy. At times the animals were already worn out by the time we would get there because so many volunteers walk and love them! It is the most humane shelter I have ever experienced!

This service project was important to the kids at TPES because they wanted to help the animals be comfortable and happy, and have everything they needed until they find a forever home!”

The Bulverde Area Humane Society is a non for profit shelter run by volunteers and contributions from the community. The shelter provides a safe and loving environment for homeless and surrendered dog and cats. BAHS commented, “Donations like these mean so much to the volunteers at BAHS. We are not government supported. We pride ourselves on providing each animal with the medical care it needs to be well content and ready for their furrever home. Gifts like these allow our monetary contributions to directly benefit our dogs and cats. Our sincere thanks!”
Timberwood Park Elementary first opened its doors in August 2008 and is the first school in Comal ISD to earn the prestigious Lighthouse School status. As a Leader in Me school, TPES works diligently to instill the 7 Habits of Happy Kidsin its students on a daily basis.
