Warrior Track Team Continues A Strong Season
Bracken Christian School posted huge results at the TAPPS 1A South Regional meet in Webster, Texas this past weekend! The girls clinched the regional championship win for the second year in a row, and the boys brought home regional runner-up also for the second year in a row.
School history was made when Marlee Dockery qualified for the second year in all five of her events for the state meet making her a 10x state event qualifier in two years.
Several outstanding individual performances were by Sara Martinez who took home third in both the shot put and discus. Cristian DeLeon placed second in the shot put and third in triple jump. Kaitlyn Kelly jumped her way into first in the triple jump. Keenan wood threw for fourth in the discus. Sierra Sherman went the distance bringing home a second in the 3200-meter, second in the 1600-meter and second in the 800-meter. Riley Stirm showed well in both the 1600 and 3200-meter races bringing home a third place medal in both. Trey VanDeWalle placed second in both the 110-hurdle and 300-hurdle races. Josh Schroeder placed fourth in the 110-hurdle.
Our relay teams dominated the winner's podium with the girls bringing home the gold in all three relays -- 4x100 (Kaitlyn Kelly, Hannah Sanchez, Faith Loving, and Marlee Dockery), 4x200 (Kaitlyn Kelly, Hannah Sanchez, Faith Loving, and Marlee Dockery) and the 4x400 (Marlee Dockery, Riley Stirm, Hannah Sanchez, and Faith Loving). The boys brought home a second in the 4x100 (Cristian DeLeon, Presley Day, Matthew Ray, and Wyatt Shippey), first in the 4x200 (Cristian DeLeon, Presley Day, Matthew Ray, and Wyatt Shippey), a and first in the 4x400 (Trey VanDeWalle, Matthew Ray, Presley Day, and Wyatt Shippey).
Fourteen Bracken Christian School athletes will compete at the TAPPS Track and Field State Championship May 4-5 in Waco, Texas.
