The League of Women Voters-Comal Area (LWV-CA) will host "CRT Is Not The Issue- DEI Explained" on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. on Zoom.
CRT stands for “Critical Race Theory,” a phrase that is commonly used, but may not be commonly understood. The discussion will focus on “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI), particularly diversity in education. LWV-CA President Jerrie Champlin explains, “the term Critical Race Theory has become a political football, with very little good information shared about what it actually is.”
The November meeting aims to take politics, hyperbole, and misinformation out of the CRT conversation. Instead, “our goal is to reach a better understanding of the issues involved in educating for participation in a culturally diverse society and a participatory democracy,” says Champlin
