Civility at the Texas State Capitol
Description
Founding Father Benjamin Franklin advised,
“Be civil to all”.
“Be civil to all”.
The public is invited to two programs about practicing civility in everyday life and in communicating with elected officials.
The Nov. 17 session, Civility at the Texas State Capitol, League of Women Voters of Texas Issue Chair Jensie Madden will discuss how to apply civility practices when communicating with elected officials.
“As newly elected legislators prepare to start the session in Austin, citizens are also preparing to advocate about the issues of concern to them. Whether sending an email or letter to a representative, visiting legislators at the State Capitol or testifying at a legislative hearing, learning to communicate civilly makes advocacy more effective”, reports
Ms. Madden, an experienced advocate at the Texas capitol. “This meeting will provide attendees with the tools they need to be effective advocates, using civility practices”
