Description
Bring your lunch and learn something new at the return of Ranger Craig's Nature Series - Little Brown Jobs: An introduction to identifying Grassland Sparrows
The Texas Hill Country hosts a diverse assemblage of native grassland sparrows every winter. Beautiful in their own right they frustrate and confuse bird watchers due to their subtle differences and behaviors. To help you along the path to sparrow nirvana, join Park Interpreter and Naturalist Craig Hensley from Guadalupe River State Park for an engaging program to learn tips and tricks for identifying these "little brown jobs." We will offer a follow-up field identification experience at the park and Honey Creek the very next day to put your newly acquired skills to the test.
The Follow-up Field Experience will be on Thursday, Feb. 22, 9 am - 12 pm at the Guadalupe State Park, we will meet at the Headquarters parking lot at the park entrance. Please note that there is a park entrance fee of $7 for anyone aged 13 and over (free entrance with a TPWD park pass).
Future programs will include:
- Wednesday, March 14, 12 pm: The Magic of Monarchs - followed by Friday, March 16, 1-3 pm: Field Experience Follow-up on Monarchs and Milkweeds
- Wednesday, May 23, 12 pm: Wildflowers of the Texas Hill Country - followed by Friday, May 25, 10 am- 12 pm: Field Experience Follow-up on Wildflowers
