Super Star Teacher for December - Garrett Schatte
The Super Star Teacher program recognizes teachers serving Western Comal County area schools who show excellence in leadership, creativity, and imagination in and out of the classroom setting.
This month we recognized CISD Canyon Lake High School's GARRETT SCHATTE!
Nominated by Mark Oberholtzer:
"He teaches his students life skills and prepares them for life after high school. He is our 'go to' teacher when something around the school needs repaired. You need a chair fixed? You call Garrett. You need a bulletin board hung? You call Garrett. You want a CL iron brand made? You call Garrett. You need Thanksgiving meal turkeys smoked for our staff luncheon? You call Garrett. You get the idea. He teaches his students these tasks all while helping out his fellow teachers and admin team along the way.
As a teacher for our Ag students - he gets a wide variety of students as you can imagine. He teaches welding, ag mechanics, ag structures & ag power. Some students take these classes because they are interested and some students take these classes to fill a spot in their schedule because they are not required classes. Because of this, he has to go out of his way to make these topics interesting for all students to keep engagement.
He is also our CATE Department Head. You can not find a better teacher who does so much and always asks what else he can do to help."
