2016 Fandangle BBQ at LBJ Ranch
Description
The Fort Griffin Fandangle of Albany, The Salt Lick BBQ, and Jake Penrod and His Million Dollar Cowboys. The only thing missing is you! What an evening we have in store as we re-create great times of the 1960's on the LBJ Ranch. The event is part of the Friends and parks' on-going celebration of the 100th Anniversary. Sorry - no refunds.
The Fort Griffin Fandangle is theatrical history, written, directed, and performed by citizens of Albany, TX. It began in 1938 as a high school outdoor show and was so well received it was enlarged into a city-wide undertaking and presented two months each summer.
Fandangle means good times, laughter and a show recreating the hell-raising days when cowboys, Indians and card sharp gamblers made a legend of the Texas frontier. It means singing, dancing and showing off western style. The Fandangle also commemorates the 1867 fort and outpost town commanded by Lt. General Griffin. It was a lawless frontier town as wild and wooly as any known in the old west.
