Description
Bring your lunch and learn something new about General Surface Water and Ground Water. Registration is required for each session.
The local area is noted as being part of one of the fastest growing areas of the US today. One of the major concerns of development is the availability and quality of water. This series of lectures will briefly explain the geology of the area and define area aquifers, discuss how surface water and ground water work together, the formation of aquifers, and will conclude with examining past, present, and future environmental concerns about area aquifers.
About the presenter: Amy Clark is a San Antonio native and Hill Country resident for the past seven years. She is the wife of fellow geologist Allan and a mother of six daughters. Amy has a BS and MS degree in Geology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), specializing in environmental geology focusing on water issues. She is licensed by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (#2700). She worked for the US Geological Survey in San Antonio for 11 years and has taught at Palo Alto College in San Antonio and most recently at UTSA for eleven years. Amy has also taught the geology portion of the Master Naturalist training for the Alamo Area Master Naturalist program. Amy is currently on sabbatical to spend time with family and volunteer at the library.
