Substitute Teachers

Position Description:  Our mission at Bracken Christian School is to partner with Christian families through the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit to provide an excellent education within the context of a biblical worldview, equipping students to impact their communities for Christ. 

You will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 Education / Certification:

1. Bachelor’s Degree is required from an accredited university or college.

2. Texas Teaching Certificate is Preferred.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

1. Knowledge of core academic subjects assigned.

2. Experience in a classroom or with students.

3. General Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

4. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.

5. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

6. Strong Christian faith and personal testimony.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the faculty.

2. Be a positive role model for students.

3. Support the mission of the school.

4. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

5. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

6. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

7. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

8. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

 Other Requirements:

1.  A minimum of two professional references are required in order to be eligible for a substitute position (family reference is not allowed). References you provide on your application will receive an electronic reference check form to complete.  

2. Substitutes will be required to complete annual compliance training and information regarding the training will be provided during orientation.

3. BCS substitutes are required to be fingerprinted prior to orientation.  BCS will contact you via email with instructions for scheduling your fingerprinting appointment. Substitutes are responsible for payment of fingerprinting.
