Local Medicare Advisor Encourages Hill Country Seniors to Review Coverage During Medicare Annual Enr

Silver and Secure helps Medicare beneficiaries in Bulverde, Spring Branch and surrounding communities understand their options for 2027

BULVERDE, Texas — With Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period approaching, local insurance advisor Jill Bullock, owner of Silver and Secure, is encouraging Medicare beneficiaries throughout the Texas Hill Country to take time to review their Medicare coverage before the end of the year.

Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period, commonly known as AEP, runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. During this period, Medicare beneficiaries can review and make changes to their Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug coverage for the upcoming year.

"Medicare plans can change from one year to the next, even when you haven't changed anything," Bullock said. "Premiums, prescription drug coverage, provider networks, copays and other benefits can all change. Taking the time to review your coverage can help make sure your plan still fits your needs for the coming year."

A Personalized Approach to Medicare

Bullock works with clients individually to help them understand their Medicare options and compare available coverage.

For those already enrolled in Medicare Advantage or a Part D plan, Bullock recommends reviewing the Annual Notice of Change they receive each fall.

"Your Annual Notice of Change is an important place to start because it outlines changes to your existing plan for the coming year," Bullock said. "But it can still be difficult to determine what those changes mean for you personally. That's where having someone walk through the options with you can be helpful."

Making Medicare Easier to Understand

Bullock says her goal is not simply to help people enroll in insurance, but to help clients understand their coverage and the choices available to them.

"Medicare can be confusing, especially when you're trying to compare premiums, networks, prescriptions and out-of-pocket costs all at once," Bullock said. "I want my clients to understand their coverage and feel comfortable with the decision they're making."

In addition to Medicare Advantage and Part D plans, Silver and Secure assists clients with Medicare Supplement insurance, including Medigap plans.

Bullock also provides Medicare education through community outreach and the Medicare Answers for Texans Facebook group, where she shares information designed to help Texans better understand Medicare.

AEP Begins October 15

Medicare beneficiaries who want to review their coverage for 2027 do not need to wait until the final weeks of AEP to get started.

Bullock recommends having a current list of medications, doctors and preferred pharmacies available when beginning a plan review.

"Don't wait until December when everyone is trying to get everything done at once," Bullock said. "Starting early gives you time to ask questions, compare your options and make an informed decision."
