Position Description: Bracken Christian School partners with Christian families through the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit to provide an excellent education within the context of a biblical worldview, equipping students to impact their communities for Christ.
The STREAM Director is expected to uphold the vision, mission, and values of Bracken Christian School, while providing support to STREAM faculty, students, and families. The STREAM Director assists in strengthening curriculum, instruction, assessment, and planning.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Minimum: Has a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Holds (or is eligible to hold) a certificate in teaching
Experience:
- Minimum: Three years of professional teaching experience
- Strong Christian faith and personal testimony
- Proven ability to embrace the responsibility of being a spiritual role model for students
Skills:
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled multi-tasker
- Proficient in communicating complex ideas and concepts
- Skilled in managing, delegating, and evaluating faculty
- Thorough understanding of curriculum and educational program requirements
- Preferred proficiency in G-Suite Applications, FACTS, and various educational and mapping software
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Leadership:
- In collaboration with administration, implement goals for the STREAM Program according to established strategic objectives, while following internal policies and educational best practices
- Assist in faculty interviews to recruit and retain top-qualifying applicants
- Coach and train faculty to utilize various instructional best practices to meet student learning needs in conjunction with the administration
- Lead and support faculty in delivering high-quality instruction on core academic (on-campus) days.
- Facilitate the Anchor Parent Program to mentor and disciple new families for success in the STREAM model
- Support administration as needed and directed
Professional:
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism
- Collaborate efficiently and effectively with all staff members to achieve programmatic success
Faculty:
- Work with STREAM Program faculty to monitor home day performance of students and parents to determine areas of improvement, if necessary
- Observe, evaluate, and provide feedback to faculty in order to support instructional excellence
- Support faculty in aligning lesson plans, pacing, and expectations within the STREAM model
Organizational:
- Ensure potential students applying for the STREAM program are set up for success
- Organize and coordinate training opportunities specific to the STREAM Program for faculty and parents
- Facilitate and assist with the vertical alignment of STREAM curriculum and instruction in collaboration with all academic leaders
- Provide clear, consistent, and timely communication with STREAM faculty and families throughout the school year
- Assist as needed in the school accreditation process
- Coordinate and manage program systems such as lesson plan expectations, testing calendars, and program workflows
- Oversee and coordinate Friday electives for grades K-7th, including course offerings, staffing, scheduling, and communication with families.
- Conduct family interviews for prospective Stream families to assess program fit, readiness, and alignment with program expectations
- Partner with the admissions department to support recruitment, onboarding, and communications with prospective and incoming families
Budget:
- In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, formulate an annual STREAM budget and review monthly variances, while setting goals to ensure programmatic stability and longevity
Student Oversight and Engagement:
- Work in collaboration with administration to ensure STREAM students receive school-based testing and assessments, such as but not limited to IOWA, PSAT 8/9, PSAT, and SAT
- Assist the Academic Dean with STREAM students' course selection and work with the Academic Advisor to ensure STREAM students have the proper courses for graduation and college entrance, communicating with families and students as needed
- Assist the school counselor with crisis intervention and social/emotional support for STREAM students as needed
- Work with the Program Director and administration to plan and support 12th-grade STREAM graduation by assisting with diploma approval, run honor roll to determine valedictorian/salutatorian, collecting student requests for staff to hand out diplomas, etc.
- In collaboration with the principals, assess and address student academic and behavioral issues and necessary solutions to best support the student and learning environment
Professional Learning:
- Participate in professional growth and development through active attendance in professional conferences, associations, and obtain relevant certifications to enhance the STREAM Program
- Distribute ideas and information from other professionals to staff as applicable
- Assist with faculty in-service days
